Santa Monica Productions is delighted to announce the completion of 47 days of location management for the up coming 2014 film shot on location in the picturesque Spanish cities of Granada and Almeria in October and November 2013.
Marbella, Spain – Santa Monica Productions co-director Yiannie Lamb has recently completed production work on the ZDF German film “Der Weg nach San Jose” (The Way To San Jose) which is set for release in Spring 2014. The film was shot on location in the picturesque Spanish cities of Granada and Almeria in October and November 2013. Location management was undertaken by Santa Monica Productions for 47 days on behalf of the German production company UFA Fictions.
This new German television film, to be broadcast by ZDF, is about a woman named Hannah (Ursula Karven) who discovers that her husband is having an affair with her best friend. Shocked, confused and devastated, Hannah sets out on a journey to collect her thoughts. She takes a trip through the south of Spain and during her journey she learns valuable lessons about life and love from the encounters and experiences she has there.
The well-known and beautiful German actress Ursula Karven stars in the film as the main character Hannah. The actress has been working in the industry for nearly 30 years and her credits include a number of movies and televisions series. Karven is best known for her movies Con Express (2002), Stille Post (2008) and Nicht mit mir, Liebling (2012). Alongside Karven, the film stars Filip Peeters, Steve Windoff, Peter Prague and Henriette Heinze as key characters in the story of the film.
While the film has locations in Berlin and Andalucia, most of the story and filming takes place in the latter. The locations Santa Monica Productions provided were integral to the film’s storyline and setting. The film is centred on Hannah’s journey through southern Spain where she comes across news places and people. After making the shocking discovery of the affair her husband Sebastian (Filip Peeters) had with her best friend, Hannah seeks refuge and gets on board a plane to Spain to escape the confusion and pain she is feeling.
Sierra Nevada natural park, a dramatic and rugged mountain range, is also used as a prominent filming location for the movie. This is the biggest natural park in Spain, encompassing a total area of 85,883 hectares, and offering many stunning views. Torrential river valleys and pine forests give way to extraordinary barren mountains with sheer sided gorges and stony scree slopes. The park is home to mainland Spain’s highest mountain Mulhacen (3479 meters) and it’s other high peaks include Veleta (3396 meters) and Alcazaba (3336 m).
Santa Monica Productions worked for the German production company UFA Fictions to provide desirable film shooting locations in Andalucia and production work also involved management of all locations in Spain used in the film. The outstanding, scenic locations, such as the Tabernas Desert, Cabo de Gata Natural Park and Sierra Nevada Natural Park, significantly contributed to the story and setting of “Der Weg nach San Jose” , which followed the journey of Hannah in the south of Spain, resulting in a film that is powerful in its visual element and emotionally engaging.
