Indian chana edges up 1.2% as buyers show.
Chana prices rose by 1.24% to Rs 3,176 per quintal in futures trade today as participants enlarged their holdings in the commodity on account of the good demand in the market after a recent fall inprices. However, estimates of higher production restricted theupside. At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in June rose by Rs 39, or 1.24%, to Rs 3,176 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,610 lots
Jeera remains up 0.6% on export demand.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also higher by Rs 200 each toconclude at Rs 12,700-13,300 and Rs 16,700-17,300 per quintal,respectively. Traders said apart from buying by retailers andstockiest, fall in supplies from producing belts, pushed up chilli and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
