Los Angeles, California – Modern Mecca, a Los Angeles based Real Estate Staging and Design Company, has announced they will be attending Modernism Week 2010 in Palm Springs, CA to explore new business opportunities, create new relationships and strengthen existing ones.

Modernism Week, the only such event in the country, is an exciting 10-day celebration of mid century modern architecture, design, lifestyle and culture. The event is sponsored by a group of organizations dedicated to the preservation and stewardship of the modern architecture in Palm Springs. Celebrating the mavericks that have left us an architectural legacy that remains unsurpassed for its beauty, international influence and originality.

The Modern Mecca team has found this show to be a particularly valuable event for their company. One of the reasons is the chance to tour many of the architectural homes that are provided to the attendees, in addition to the on-site and off-site networking opportunities that make this week such a success for everyone involved.

“This ceremony has evolved to become the nation’s premier meeting for modernists and I am looking forward to a full week of activities. While the Gala Benefit, Martini Party and the Celebrity Home Tour, are important aspects of this confab of like-minded people, we feel that the show’s Architecture and Design Council Symposium, educational film series, lectures and networking opportunities are at the core of Modernism Week’s value” says Claudia Andrade-Desbiens, Founder and Principal Designer of Modern Mecca. “We also believe that it is very important for us to experience and support the preservation efforts of desert modernism by attending Modernism Week’s events”, she points out.

Like the wave of modern movement, which broke free from tradition, conventions and ornament, Modern Mecca’s work is characterized by essential functional concerns, clean lines and clarity of design. The company draws its inspiration from the architectural sensibility of the modern masters and in doing so they forge ahead with their own initiatives by delivering consistency and providing unmatched value to their clients.

“We are truly passionate and dedicated to the promotion, appreciation and preservation of modern architecture. Our company is unique in which it was created to provide real estate staging services and guidance for people who need to sell modern homes. We are thrilled to participate in this year’s festivities and celebrate the joys of the modern movement with the community of architecture and design aficionados – we feel totally at home in Palm Springs”, she continued.

Even from a young age, Claudia was a modernist devotee, fascinated and strongly attracted by the shapes and forms of forward-thinking structures; their timeless functionality, sweeping lines and open spaces. Growing up in a country whose entire capital was built from scratch by renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer, only served to instill her young mind with Modernist values. Absorbing its ideas, principles, and optimism for the future, have not only helped hone in her skills but also guided her career and lifestyle choices.

After moving to the West Coast, she was exposed to some of the most iconic expressions in housing by leaders in mid-twentieth century design and architecture and was immediately seduced by Southern California’s modernist heritage and culture. Eames, Neutra, Lautner, Frey and Killingsworth – all synonymous with great postwar architecture and design, became part of her daily vocabulary. She fell deeply in love with this treasure trove and became obsessed with architectural greats and their legacy.

When deciding upon the ideal business model for her company, she says it was a no-brainer. The inspiration fostered by strong views of modernism continued to flow and she rapidly found her niche – she knew she had to focus on this often overlooked market. These deep-seated principles of modernist theory ingrained in her since she was a little girl, gave her new purpose to put modern spunk back in real estate.

“There are hundreds of home staging companies in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, but none of them specialize in the modern aesthetics. I am sticking to what I know best, and I aim to fill the void. In today’s cutthroat environment, I strive to own the modern niche in my industry. I feel that Annual attendance at Modernism Week is critical to my continued education, personal and professional growth and a guarantee boost to my success”, says Claudia. “I’ve come to the conclusion that this is the ideal time for me to direct my efforts toward the many professional opportunities that lie before us. We fully expect to be active in all those fronts.”

Like all companies that are attending shows such as this one, there needs to be more value than ever to the modernist community to justify the travel, accommodation and tickets expenses during today’s challenging economic climate. The costs and other expenses will pay for their trip many times over in the form of new business, friendships, contacts and knowledge that will be the road map to continued success.

“Our niche is Modern. From day one, we knew that we would be the one stop shop for modern Real Estate Staging. Could we stage a Long Beach Bungalow and Craftsman? Sure. Do we have the chops to tackle a Tuscan-Inspired Villa in Malibu? You bet! But we are specialists, not generalists. We don’t try to be all things to all people. We chose to set ourselves apart by focusing on the modern and mid century modern aesthetics. So far, it has worked well. Modern is our X-factor!”

When asked about her company someday relocating to the Desert Oasis to be near the architecture and lifestyle she loves so much, Claudia says, “Hopefully my work will be meaningful and representative of modernism to be respected and embraced by the Palm Springs Modernist Community, and of course, I would love to move Modern Mecca into a fabulous, classic mid century modern home!” However, she jokes, “I just hope visitors to Palm Springs don’t wake me up in the middle of the night asking for cocktails and a tour of my Mid Century Modern gem.”
